Eat well, stay healthy
This is an interactive workshop on how you can eat well to stay healthy as well as looking after the planet at the same time. We will present latest evidence and research in the area of nutrition and we will go beyond the attention grabbing headlines and the latest fad diet. We will look at the best ways of supplying our bodies with all the essential nutrients and the myriad of other protective properties that foods can offer us. This is a not just a theory course, we will look at how to grow some nutritious vegetables and herbs in the home garden or pots. We will look at the effects different foods have on the planet and how to make the most of seasonal and local options.
Take home seeds and seedlings
You will take home a selection of seeds, cuttings and/or seedlings (depending on season) for planting in your own garden as well as recipes and tips. We will have lots of interesting food tasting opportunities and the focus is very much on budget-friendly, everyday home cooking for people of all ages.
Your tutor is an Experienced Dietitian:
The tutor of this workshop is the co-owner of Mahoe Hills, Marion Van Oeveren. Marion is a registered dietitian and has worked in hospitals and community for many years. She has an extensive organic vegetable/herb garden and home orchard which provides inspiration as well as ingredients for this workshop.
Lunch & tasting
The vegetarian lunch and tasting options will be packed with fresh vegetables and herbs from the garden. There will also be a an opportunity to try homegrown herbal teas.

Includes materials, morning and afternoon tea and lunch as well as other tastings and cuttings etc.
