Learn more felting techniques
The intermediate/advanced workshop is suitable for students who have some previous felting experience and would like to expand their knowledge and learn new techniques. You will create a more technical item using resists to create three dimensional felt pieces, including layering and inlay techniques along with incorporating other materials such as beads, threads and/or found items. You can make a large bag, an item of clothing or a wall-hanging.
Your tutor will provide lots of design ideas and inspiration, the piece you will take home will be strong and durable.
Experienced felting tutor
The tutor of this course Colleen Plank is a practicing textile artist and qualified adult tutor. Colleen is employed by the Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology in the Creative Industries and has exhibited her work in galleries nationally and internationally. Colleen also tutors a variety of community education workshops at Nayland College in Stoke, Nelson.
Cost for 2-day felting workshop $240
Includes all materials for samples and your main felted item. Workshop fee includes morning and afternoon tea and lunch prepared by the host using home grown ingredients. We will contact participants and discuss their wishes for design and materials. Bringing your own materials is an option too (discount offered)
